Event Details

Immerse your senses in an evening of culinary exploration focused on food and its presence in Italian Literature. From Dante and Boccaccio’s Medieval feasts and famines, to Renaissance Italy’s Machiavelli and the Borgias, when banquets met court intrigue (and a little bit of poison), food and wine have played a sumptuous and symbolic role in classic Italian writing.

UCSD Alumni and the Ida and Cecil Green Faculty Club have teamed up to present UC San Diego Arts and Humanities Dean Cristina Della Coletta, the Chancellor’s Associates Chair in Italian Literature, for a delicious dinner featuring temptations for the intellect and palate. Trace the path of culinary symbolism through Italy’s greatest literature as you experience a special Italian menu with carefully selected wine pairings.
