PLEDGE UCSD: Allegiance to Philanthropy:
The UCSD Student Foundation (UCSDSF) recently launched “I
Pledge UCSD,” a student-led initiative that encourages students
to support undergraduate scholarships through charitable contributions.
An official component of The Campaign for UCSD: Imagine What’s
Next,
“I Pledge UCSD” gives students the opportunity to donate
$5 quarterly to build a scholarship endowment that is managed by
the UCSDSF. The group hopes to secure pledges from 20 percent of
the undergraduate student body by the close of the 2004-05 academic
year. Shortly after the fund-raising program was introduced, an
anonymous donor offered to support the initiative by providing up
to $10,000 in matching gifts annually.

The UCSDSF was created in 1999 with a donation of $100,000 from
UCSD alumni Marc, ’79 and Patricia, ’83 Brutten. The
group’s mission is to promote a spirit of philanthropy among
students at UCSD. For more information contact Rozanne
Mack or visit the Foundation
Website.
