EVENT DETAILS:
Wine is inextricably linked to climate. Grape varietals are cultivated based on several regional conditions with climate being one of the most notable attributes. How will a changing climate affect this industry? How can history inform adaptation strategies and what do climate policy goals say about the future? The wine industry is on the forefront of environmental leadership and is working to adapt to future climate conditions.
Steven S. Cliff, '92, Ph.D. '98, has more than 15 years experience in global climate and air quality research will briefly discuss the chemistry of wine, look at adaptation strategies among farmers and winemakers and explore at the interaction between climate policy tools and the wine industry.
Following the formal presentation at 5:30 p.m., our event host, Martin Goldberg, M.S.’81, Ph.D.’86, Senior Vice President of Research & Development at Affymetrix will have a recruiter and information about career opportunities available during the networking reception. Affymetrix is a pioneer in genetic analysis.
This is also your opportunity to meet Chancellor Marye Anne Fox who will be in attendance to share an important message about the future of education at UCSD.
